news report
Friday July 22, 2011 14:26 by Andrew - Dublin S2S
Rossport Solidarity Camp is reporting that this morning Shell started work at the compound in Aughoose where they intend to start digging the tunnel to house a section of the experimental high pressure raw gas pipeline that has been opposed for a decade by the local community. The private security company IRMS had 70+ personnel there who closed off the main Aughoose to Glengad road illegally this morning and refused to allow anyone to pass through. Two Shell to Sea campaigners were injured after being dragged out of compound. Gardai were nowhere to be seen this morning, presumably to allow IRMS a free hand. |
